What is URS?

Ureteroscopy (URS) is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove stones located in the ureter using a small endoscopic instrument.

Indications

• Ureteric stones
• Persistent pain due to stone obstruction
• Failed medical therapy

Procedure

• Scope passed through natural urinary passage
• Laser fragmentation of stone
• Stone fragments removed

Recovery

• Same-day or short hospital stay
• Temporary stent may be placed
