Angioembolization
Angioembolization
What is Angioembolization?
Angioembolization, also known as varicocele embolization, is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicocele by blocking the abnormal veins through a catheter-based technique.
How Does It Work?
- A small catheter is inserted through a vein in the groin or neck
- The catheter is guided to the affected testicular vein
- Special coils or embolic agents are placed to block abnormal blood flow
- The enlarged veins gradually shrink over time
Who is a Suitable Candidate?
Angioembolization may be considered for men who:
- Have infertility associated with varicocele
- Prefer a non-surgical option
- Have recurrence after previous surgery
- Are not suitable for open surgery
Benefits of Angioembolization
- No surgical incision
- Minimal discomfort
- Short recovery time
- Performed under local anesthesia
Expected Outcomes
- Improvement in semen parameters

- Improved fertility potential
Recovery
- Same-day discharge
- Return to normal activity within a few days
- Follow-up semen analysis after 3 months
